Press Release: DMCI Power energy sales up 7% in 2023
Background/Description of the Disclosure
Leading off-grid electricity generator DMCI Power Corporation (DPC) recorded a 7 percent increase in sales volume in 2023, from 426 gigawatt hours (GWh) to 454GWh.
“Our sales have grown steadily for 11 consecutive quarters because of solid demand and our targeted investments in underserved and unserved areas, reflecting our dedication to missionary electrification,” said DPC president Antonino E. Gatdula, Jr.
In 2023, Palawan overtook Masbate as DPC's largest market, contributing 44 percent to the total sales volume, while Masbate and Oriental Mindoro accounted for 34 percent and 22 percent, respectively.
Palawan energy sales expanded by 12 percent from 179GWh to 200GWh on the combined effect of higher capacity and demand. In August, DPC commenced commercial operations of its P1.5 billion thermal power plant in the province, coinciding with a surge in both local and international tourist arrivals in the area.
Energy dispatch in Masbate advanced by 5 percent from 148 GWh to 156 GWh owing to higher demand and plant availability. Meanwhile, sales to Oriental Mindoro slipped by 2 percent from 99GWh to 97GWh due to the increased availability of renewable energy power plants.
DPC is the largest off-grid energy generator in the Philippines in terms of installed capacity. At the end of 2023, it had a total installed capacity of around 160 MW, up by 17 percent from the previous year. The company operates in Masbate, Palawan and Oriental Mindoro.
