Vivant Subsidiary to expand Renewable Energy Portfolio
Background/Description of the Disclosure

The retail energy arm of publicly listed Vivant Corporation taps a renewable energy developer to serve customers that want clean and sustainable sources.

Vivant Corporation received notice from wholly owned subsidiary Vivant Energy Corporation (Vivant Energy) that its license retail energy arm COREnergy Inc. (COREnergy) signed a 20-year power supply agreement with Samal Solar Renewable Energy Corporation (SSREC).
Renewable energy developer SSREC is in the process of developing a solar power project with a total capacity of 52MWdc in Barangay Samal, Bataan, Philippines. SSREC is one of several renewable energy projects of Tigon Power Corporation, which was represented during the PSA signing by its President Mayleen Ting and Board Chairman Elon Ting.

“Interest in renewable energy sources has been increasing as more and more industries look for ways to future- proof their businesses. There is a particularly strong interest in solar PV, which is one of the most viable RE technology for places like the Philippines,” said Vivant Energy President and COO Emil Andre M. Garcia. “This is another step towards our goal to expand our RE portfolio by 30% by 2030.” Garcia cites the recently inked joint venture agreement with Vena Energy and Aboitiz Renewables Inc. to develop, construct and operate a 200MW wind power project in Northern Samar; COREnergy’s solar rooftop projects in Luzon, the Visayas and Mindanao; and the energization through solar of off-grid and remote schools by the Vivant group’s corporate social responsibility arm Vivant Foundation.

COREnergy contributes to the success of industries by providing retail electricity services, solar and energy engineering solutions that enable business owners to better manage their power consumption while reaping the benefits of retail competition and an open access regime.

SSREC’s obligations to construct the plant and supply the contracted energy is subject to the condition precedent of a successful financial close to secure debt financing for the project. The solar PV power facility is scheduled to be completed within the second quarter of 2025.
